‘HEALTH UPDATE’-WORKSHOP FOR TEACHERS

Under the ‘Health and Wellness Programme for Staff Members’, DAV Centenary Public School organized a workshop– ‘ALL about Vitamin D’ highlighting the importance of Vitamin D for good health. The workshop was conducted by Dr. AnshuAsri, the Medical Officer of the school. Dr. Asri brought to light the fact at about 70-80% population of our country is deprived of the ‘Sunshine Vitamin’ (Vitamin D) and  hence this issue needs to be addressed imperatively. Teachers were acquainted about  prevention of Vitamin D deficiency by adequate exposure to sunlight and by intake of Vitamin D rich food (natural as well as fortified). Dr. Asri advocated that  to prevent Vitamin D deficiency 40% of the body must be exposed to sunlight for a minimum of 40 minutes for at least 40 days in a year. The workshop proved to be extremely fruitful with teachers gaining an insight about how to maintain good health.
