Changing perspective with changing times- Reinventing our role as educators” Motivation drives us to excel & put in efforts to enhance our performance and we need it all the time. Such an initiative was taken by D.A.V Centenary Public School, Paschim Enclave and a session, “Changing perspective with changing times- Reinventing our role as educators” was organized for the entire staff members on 30 March 2016. Ms. Jyotsna Bharadwaj (Counselor, Consulting Psychologist & Director- Envision India Eduservices) was welcomed to help teachers in reviewing their responsibility as facilitators & educators. She began the session highlighting the indispensable role of teachers in motivating children & threw light on the most important pre-requisite i.e. self-motivation. She elucidated the diverse roles of an educator- nurturer, observer, companion, counselor, role model which have a significant contribution in making the difference in a student’s life. The contribution of educators as role models was one of the key messages addressed in the session. Ms. Jyotsna Bharadwaj effectively highlighted the ways which can be adopted to be a powerful role model since we as educators teach more by what we do than we say. She concluded the session with a strong message emphasizing the need to change our “teaching environment’ to “learning environment”.
