DAV Centenary Public School , Paschim Enclave organized GANIT SAPTAH to celebrate the birth anniversary of a great and genius mathematician Shri Srinivasa Ramanujan  from 19th Dec. to 26th Dec, 2016 . The Mathematics Department of the school organised and conducted different activities for the different classes under the supervision and guidance of Mr. Anuj Manchanda, HOD Mathematics Dept. . 

DAY 1 :  An origami session was conducted by Ms. Anu Arora for the students of class V. The students participated enthusiastically in the session. They got to know about origami and how it is related to mathematics. Also, they learnt to make 3-D shapes by folding origami sheets. It emphasised the concept of learning by doing. 

DAY 2 : A poster making competition for class VI was organised by Ms. Neha Handa on the topic "Mathematics around us". Mathematics is closely related to our surrounding. Mathematics is all around us. The students presented their ideas and creativity in the form of wonderful posters. The winners for the same were conceded accolades. 

DAY 3 : For the students of class VII, an activity for solving "Matchstick puzzles" was conducted by Ms. Ritu Setya. A powerpoint presentation containing some matchstick puzzles was shown to the students and the students presented their solutions on the sheets. All the students took part in this activity very actively. 

DAY 4 : A competition for drawing "Rangoli using Tessellations" was organised by Ms. Divya for the students of class VIII. Students had to draw a Rangoli using mathematical shapes and the concept of tessellations. The students made very attractive, colourful and creative drawings. The winners for the same were conceded accolades. 

DAY 5 : On this day, there was a "Magic Square Session" for class IX by Ms. Kriti Singh. Firstly, the concept of Birthday Magic Square created by Srinivasa Ramanujan was discussed with the students. Afterwards, they were taught the rules/tricks to make magic square using their own Date of Birth. They themselves created magic squares of order 4 X 4. Students had a lot of fun in this event. 
 
DAY 6 : An activity aimed at understanding the working of a "Clinometer" was conducted by Ms. Nirupama and Ms. Kriti Singh. For this, Students were asked to make a model of Clinometer. Students used that model to measure the height of School Building. This was a Learning with Fun activity. 

On the last day, the school was pleased to have the presence of renowned Mathematics Expert from CBSE Mr. J C Nijhawan. He retired as a principal from Directorate of Education and has written many books in Mathematics. He highlighted the importance of Mathematics in daily life and encouraged the students to study mathematics sincerely and also discussed various techniques of attempting a question paper and preparing well for the examination. 

Students from different class delivered valuable talks relating to mathematics daily in the morning assembly. 

The whole programme was aimed at enhancing students' creativity, knowledge and learning. Students particpated enthusiastically and exhibited their hidden talents.
