Eco- friendly Diwali festooned at DAV
Welcoming one of the major, most-awaited festivals of the year, the students of the school celebrated the ‘festival of lights’ with extraordinary fervour. The day became the perfect precursor that ushered everyone into the four-day long festivities. The kids of the Nursery wing looked too adorable in the traditional wear they had donned for the day. They could be seen helping their teachers zealously in decorating their classrooms. The entire school premises were bedecked with ravishing rangoli designs, gleaming earthen pots and cadenced chants. A concoction of workshops was conducted by Ms. Anju Bala, the art teacher of the school. The modus operandi included designing dazzling door hangings by the petite learners as well as multihued candles by the underprivileged children of the vicinity who are given free education by the school. It was awesome to see the elated students taking their decked out hangings home.A cultural programme too was put up which saw enthusiastic participation from kids of all classes. The tiny-tots of the school presented lyrical Ramkatha that enlightened the audience about the mythological significance of the festival. Group songs by the choir as well as plausible poesy were also lined up to enchant one and all. Upholding the environmental-friendly ethos of the school, the major highlight of the celebrations was the “Say No to Crackers” rally. Holding thought-provoking banners, shouting stirring slogans, the students of class IV took the responsibility of awakening the on-lookers to celebrate a cracker-free and environmentally-clean Diwali. Wishing that the ‘festival of luminosity’ may dispel the darkness of ignorance and evil from our lives and lead each one of us into the splendid light of knowledge and goodness, the celebrations were concluded for the day.
