‘SCIENTIA’ adored at DAV

I hear and I forget.
I see and I remember.
I do and I understand.
-    Confucius
In keeping with the above idea, DAV Centenary Public School, Paschim Enclave adorned ‘Scientia- Science Week’ in its junior wing.

The Week took off with an educational excursion to National Science Centre for the students of classes III & IV.

‘Millions saw the apple fall; Newton was the only one who asked why?’

A plethora of activities were organized so as to inculcate this scientific attitude among the learners. Decked up as harmless animals, the little ones of class I aimed to permeate love for them. The school campus turned into a lively Science laboratory promoting learning by doing and involving all the learners in investigations, observations and experiments.

Students of class II & III created colossal collage of plant products. They also exhibited their innovative ideas through ‘Just a minute’ sessions. They considered themselves no less than Graham Bell when they designed their own telephones. Class IV learners made plausible posters on the topic ‘Go Green’ and ‘Save Wildlife’ and showcased their creative talent. A scintillating street play was also staged to create awareness regarding environment protection. They voiced slogans to raise awareness regarding the ills of plastic bags through a rousing rally.

STEM (Scientific Technology Engineering Mathematics) is a regular feature of the school. Experts from STEM conduct weekly classes for the students of III & IV to train the young minds to think and explore environment around them. They performed various experiments and designed models of gliders that they relished enjoying flying high in the air. Constructing a balloon car and a beam balance thrilled them a lot.

Undoubtedly, the week had loads of fun and frisk for the students. Such feats are a customary facet of the school so as to keep the learners updated. Principal Manju Malik
applauded the efforts of the science faculty for such endeavors. She shares her ideas with a great physicist, Max Born that

Science is not formal logic–it needs the free play of the mind in as great a degree as any other creative art.
Max Born (1882-1970), German Physicist, Nobel Prize, 1954.
