‘WELCOME DAY - 2022’

“Technology is a tool in terms of getting the kids to work together and motivating them, school is the most important”

After days of silent hallways and empty classrooms, it was a delight today to welcome all our students back into the building. The extensive preparation and planning put into making school re-entry a successful adventure included various activities for the students. Class 3 and 4 students made a pinwheel with adjectives written on it to describe the day and the students of class 1 and 2 were welcomed with a flower by their teachers. Apart from this the tiny tots put in their hands together on paper tearing and pasting. Our aim for the first day back was to normalize the school day, have students reacclimatize to the building, and re-engage positive connections with other students and staff, all of which are essential for successful learning and growth moving forwards. Moreover, the focus was to bring back the importance of basic fine motor skills and churn the little minds back to work. This seems to have been a success, despite the masks, cohorts, handwashing, directional flow in hallways and physical distancing. It really was quite wonderful to see shining eyes peeking over the tops of masks, as students arrived ready for the new school year today.
