World Environment Day - JULY 2015  Inspiring Environmentalists
“The biggest threat to Nature is the belief that someone else will save it.” With a view to sensitise the students about the urgent environmental issues and the dire need to save our magnificent planet, a special assembly was held in the lush green lawns of the DAV Centenary Public School. A  plethora of activities were  conducted to spread the message in an engaging mannerwherein the students planted saplings, recited poems on Nature , enjoyed slogan writing and narrated stories . In an endeavourto encourage the young environmentalists, a poster makingactivity was taken up for the students of class IVto hone their creative skills. Students of class V participated in Slogan Writing Competition. The day saw students making inspirational slogans to voice their concern for the mother Earth.Students of class VI participated in Poster Making Competition. The Competition saw the students playing with different hues to express their views.Students of class VII participated in ‘Making best out of the waste competition’, wherein students created useful articles out of the waste material thereby learning to utilize the available resources to the fullest. Students of class VIII participated in ‘Elocution Competition’. The competition gave an opportunity to the students to express their views on Renewable Sources of energy. A special workshop was organised for the students of class IX to make them aware of the Natural Disaster Management. Students of class X, XI participated in ‘Essay Writing Competition’ putting across their ideas on how to promote the use of Renewable Sources of Energy. The day concluded on a promising note when the young warriors took a pledge to do their ‘Bit’ to save ‘It’ and further enlighten their fellow beings to adopt eco – friendly practices . So, “Start today and save tomorrow.”
