‘World Literacy Day’ voiced at DAV

“Literacy is a bridge from misery to hope.”Kofi Annan

Having rousing placards in their hands, voicing vociferous slogans, the students of junior classes of DAV Centenary Public School, Paschim Enclave trotted on the streets of Mianwali Nagar on 6th September 2014 advocating the message ‘Each One Teach One’. The campaign was a part of Literacy Day celebrations in the school premises. The little angels displayed scores of enthusiasm in awaking the masses for removing the social stigma of illiteracy. The school has been educating the deprived students of the vicinity since years. Around 30-35 children of the slums of adjoining areas come on a continual basis for regular classes. Under the gifted guidance of Ms. Uma Khosla, the children presented a scintillating skit to spread literacy fervour. Tokens of love along with refreshment were also given to the children by the supervisory head. The prime motive in organizing this event was to create an understanding and awareness on the importance of literacy amongst children. Principal Manju Malik has a strong belief in the words of wisdom by Revered Nelson Mandela.

“Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the  world. “
