REPORT ON GANIT WEEK

As per the guidelines issued by CBSE, DAV Centenary Public School, Paschim Enclave organizedGanit Week from 16-22 Dec, 2014under the able guidance of Principal Ms. Manju Malik. The week was organized to acknowledge the contribution of the great mathematician Sri Ramanujan, in the field of Mathematics, and to celebrate the occasion of his birth anniversary which falls on 22nd Dec. A mélange of activities were organized throughout the week wherein students participated with full zest and zeal. 
The week commenced on 16 Dec,2014 with a Special lecture by Mr. JC Nijhawan, the renowned Mathematician .Mr. Nijhawan guided the students of class XII about the various strategies of preparing the subject well. Students also discussed their doubts and queries related to the subject. 
On 17 Dec ,2014 Essay Writing Competition was organized for students of class X. The students expressed their views on different areas related to the subject. The day saw students actively penning down their thoughts on Vedic Mathematics, Relationship between Logical Mathematical Intelligence and the Academic Performance and the Contribution of different civilizations to the field of Mathematics
18 Dec, 2014 saw the students of class IV brainstorming in a Special Quiz. Students were divided into different teams that enthusiastically competed at different levels of the Quiz. 
On 19th Dec, a special Experience Sharing Session on-‘ Innovations in Mathematics’ was organized for the students of class XI. The session proved to be lively with students and teachers voicing their know-how related to the different innovations and novelities in the field of Mathematics.
On 20 Dec, 2014 students of class VIII enjoyed aMovie Show on life of SrinivasRamanujan, the great Mathematician. The movie sensitized the students to be determined and work hard, taking inspiration from the life  journey of Sir Ramanujam.
22 Dec , 2014 saw Origami and Poster making competitions, organized on the topic ‘Mathematics is fun’ for the students of class 5 and 6. The competitions saw students projecting their creativity in beautiful hues.
In all the week proved to be a successful venture with students honing their skill and shedding all the anxieties related to Mathematics.
