OBJECTIVES:
- To acquaint the students with the latest issues related to environment.
- To enthuse them to take a step ahead for the preservation of our environment to make Earth a better place to live in
- ‘Shine – Shine Everywhere’ – Eco Friendly polishes for furnitures, marbles and porcelain
- Mini Industry – Preparing glues and fibres from natural resources
- ‘No Marks’ – Safety of various cosmetics
- Natural pesticides – Use of various plants / herbs in making eco-friendly pesticides
- Scrap Manure – Preparation of eco- friendly manures by waste from home
- Nature’s Wonders – Use of medicinal plants
- ‘Nature’s Ploughmen : How Beneficial’ – Use of earthworm in making vermicompost
The school is successfully running Eco-club which is aimed at creating environment awareness among its members, spreading the same in society and preventing environment degradation. Eco club of the school has been actively engaged in activities and campaigns related to conservation of ecosystem with emphasis on observing three Rs – Reduce, Recycle and Reuse. The Rs are bound to have immediate and long term favorable impact about sustainable development and biodiversity hotspots so that they emerge out as lightened and responsible human beings and can contribute in conservation of ecosystem. Various activities mentioned below were actively carried out to achieve the same:
BACK TO NATURE'- TREE PLANTATION CAMPAIGN September 2011 REPORT
VAN MAHOTSAVA- Tree plantation was carried out in the school premises and adjoining areas. As many as 100 saplings were planted including medicinal plants and plants of commercial value. Around fifty students along with teachers participated with full zeal and enthusiasm.
MOTHER EARTH- Lets Care and Share-Campaign to preserve Mother earth was carried out by students of class X which aimed as to create mass awareness, Students interacted with the residents of the area and tried to educate them regarding carbon economy, sustainable management and the consequences of destroying environment.
WATER- The Hub of Life- The campaign to save water was carried out by the students of Eco Club to educate people about the conservation of water and strategies to be followed by the same. Students walked through the streets of neighbourhood areas with placards carrying slogans to save water.
SCRAPPING MANURE- Against the fertilizers, which have negative impact on environment, students prepared the eco-friendly carry bags and folders made from papers and worn out clothes. They educated other students of the school to follow the same.
ACTIVITIES REMIXED- Many other indoor activities related to conservation of environment were organized. These include Slogan Writing, essay Writing, Debates, Extempore, Poster making and Quiz related to environment issues. For tiny tots of the school, fancy dress competition was organized with the themes-‘Flora and Fauna’ and ‘Preserve Nature’.
Also club proposes to carry out these activities further. Teacher will brief the students how ecological balance will help in sustaining environment and in turn, life on the planet Earth.
