*Chess is everything : Art, Science and Sport.*
DAV Centenary Public School, Paschim Enclave on July 20,2023 celebrated the *International Chess Day, under the mentorship of a great visionary Madam Sonia Malik.* To mark this day the Sports department organised an *Inter- class Chess Competition* for the students of grade 4.
The teachers also discussed with the students the benefits of playing chess as it increases concentration level, encourages strategic thinking and brings discipline in ones life. The origin of this ancient game was highlighted and a few fun facts were also shared with the students.
This day in all amplified the genuine opportunities offered by chess in the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the SDGs, such as strengthening education.
Throughout history, games and sports have helped humanity to survive times of crisis by reducing anxieties and improving mental health. Post the COVID-19 outbreak, chess has demonstrated remarkable resilience, adaptability and a very strong convening power in times of pandemic.
